Treat Cellulite with Cupping Massage

Spring is right around the corner, and with it comes shorter hemlines and, eventually, swimsuits. Unfortunately for some, the appearance of cellulite on their bodies makes this time of year uncomfortable.

Cellulite is basically a layer of fat cells under the skin within the body’s connective tissue that presents itself as dimpling of the skin. It typically shows up in the hips, thighs, buttocks, and abdomen, and it can be caused by a whole range of factors, from hormones to heredity.

Cupping massages can be used to treat cellulite because when suction is applied on the skin, that type of pressure causes the cellulite to break up. Circulation is stimulated by the suction of the cupping, and the fat and toxins that are released are moved to the body’s lymph drainage system. Then these toxins are quickly eliminated from the body.

In addition, while it’s common knowledge that conventional weight loss and exercise methods don’t really lend themselves to “spot treatment” of problem areas, cupping is known for just that! You can request that your treatments target certain places on your body, and the cups are simply used during the massage on those areas.

Let’s be clear, though. Treating cellulite with cupping is not a one or two treatment type of thing. This requires multiple treatments over time. The number of treatments and when you’ll start to see results depends on the area(s) being treated and the amount of cellulite in the area. When you have your first visit, we can chat about the timeframe and treatments we’re looking at.

Cupping therapy should also not be considered as a be all, end all treatment for cellulite. While the cupping massages help, they should be used in conjunction with exercise and a generally healthy lifestyle.
